This will be the first time I talk about a single and I enjoyed it VERY much. I only really listened to 1 album by the Strokes, which was their debut, “This is It,” but I really didn’t get to finish it. Not that I didn’t like it but there were others things that keep catching my ear. For the most part the singles of that album are really good and enjoyable. Now, The Strokes released their debut in 2001 and was on a mission to revive Garage Rock. Bringing in loud visceral vocals and instrumentals with huge success, despite being told they’d be failures. With the sound of this new single, it’s not really anything from when they first started, but front man Julian Casablancas’ vocals are just as good as it was when they first came onto the scene. It’s synth heavy but it’s somewhat hypnotic and reassuring; there are barely any guitars that can be heard or bass as a matter of fact. It’s a surprise that I even like it, but it truly is the voice and the pleasant instrumentals that come together to make it work.
